guyanatruth is a truthful, uncorrupted, conscious, unconventional
and realistic exploration of guyanese issues.
originally a web site called "guyanese in america are..."
(created on the 22nd march 2001) where i talked about the shockingly
self-degrading behaviours of guyanese in america, guyanatruth
is now an outlet for revolutionary thought and socially conscious
commentaries.
in fact, i have almost completely shifted my energies away from
guyanese in america and towards the fight in guyana. i've realised
that free travel is a human right, even if it further destabilises
an already precarious nation. the weak-mindedness of guyanese
in america can be traced back to mental weakness of guyanese at
home, so this is further cause to redirect my resources. it's
better to take preventative measures and build strong minds in
guyana, rather than try to educate guyanese in america about why
they should have some pride and not be so servile as to emulate
the american's every move.
in february 2002, the decision was made to create a new site
at tripod.com and three months later on the 12th may, guyanatruth
opened its doors.
guyanatruth has become the online outpost where i offer my vision
of a mental revolution in guyana that is outlined by the slogan
"educate, organise, mobilise"--the details of which
i am developing daily.
what essentially happens at guyanatruth is i make posts on the
homepage, with old posts being moved to the 'archives'
(which are the bulk of guyanatruth), and significant images from
posts being copied to the 'pictures'
section. there's also a 'features'
section with some random things, and a section for 'letters.'
there was a message board but i took it down because it wasn't
being used and because it was separate from guyanatruth, located
at another domain.
back in may 2002, i listed five issues that i was primarily concerned
about and i called this page 'the issues.' i also created a page
for the 'writings on issues.' it didn't take long before i became
overwhelmed with dozens of problems in guyana--with the race vote,
corporate exploitation of the people and land, cultural dilution
and migration being some of the most urgent. so instead of writing
on the five listed items only, i've been making posts about all
sorts of issues.
so version 2 of 'the issues' has
been created as a list of the issues that deeply concern me and
other people to different degrees. also, 'writings
on issues' will no longer be updated because the posts on
the home page that tackle the listed issues will be put in the
'archives'.
i run guyanatruth independently, so there may be technical problems
and grammatical mistakes, annoyances and inaccuracies. please
alert me of any problems so i can quickly fix them.
for more on me, see the 'me, myself and
i' section.
in accordance with my ideology, i will be leaving america permanently
in a few months, most likely june 2004. this return will be the
most revolutionary thing i've done so far, and it's a significant
point in my evolution. so as i continue to evolve i feel that
it's best if i abandon guyanatruth and allow myself to grow in
a different dimension as i pursue social reform in guyana. (again,
see 'me, myself and i' for details.)
guyanatruth will be updated for the last time before i leave
for guyana.
as you may have already noticed, it's my personal preference
to use common letters here at guyanatruth. frankly though, my
preference has changed to standard punctuation, so i'll either
try and find the time to properly punctuate everything, or i'll
stay consistent and keep things the way they are for the final
few months that i'll be maintaining guyanatruth.
and another note: guyanatruth is listed in the 'politics' section
of most web directories but this does not correctly describe the
site. it's difficult to describe guyanatruth in one word, so i
tend to use multiple terms, as evident in the first few paragraphs
above. still, guyanatruth is certainly not 'politics.' it is a
people-centred effort at change in guyana--true change, measured
in the mental progression of the people.
if necessary, use the 'contact'
page to reach me.
and finally, a word to visitors of this site who i've known to
be mostly guyanese in america--we may not agree on everything,
but let's unite on what we do agree upon.
