see the reason that ppl use emails is that there can be quick responses;
unlike the snail mail.
why haven't i heard from ya?
btw, the movie Zulu is great; can't get tired of that movie; the GREAT
BRITISH EMPIRE - WHERE THE SUN NEVER SETS ON THE BRITISH EMPIRE - the
movie reveals BRITISH HONOR, TRADITION, BRAVERY, AND MORE. ideas that
you would never understand about the BRITISH. when you can face death
like these soldiers(and soldiers before them) portrayed in the movie,
you can maybe then make comments on the BRITISH.
when you admire the beautiful, majestic, and monumental works of architecture
like the Taj, Pyramids, and Rome's Ruins, you should remember that the
art was built by the sweat and blood of COURAGEOUS AND BRAVE SOLDIERS
as well as the slaves. i am not saying that the soldiers necessarily built
them; just that the soldiers conquered people and foreign lands - and
to do so takes sweat and blood.

my first reply to guyanaspice after my initial letter.
my penitence, the delay was due to problems.
i am not the one to participate in wordy arguments, but i will respond
to a few things said.
you made many assumptions about me, it seemed effortless to you, it's
not a very gregarious habit and displays insecurities.
you titled me a fascist, moron, ignoramus, illiterate, "carib",
and you bestowed others which i can't remember, but did amuse me to
the point of surreal laughter and pity.
you also indicated an association i had with religion.
the word "ignorant" is oil on your tongue, or rather your
fingers.
notice that so far i haven't insulted you, but i have learnt from your
messages that this enough for you to spend a costly time constructing
a rebuttal. (should i stop here and enjoy the anticipation of waiting
for your entertaining response?)
i am flattered that you considered my e-mail worthy of such long, crude
responses. i don't think it was.
in continiuation, your assumptions about me were incorrect.
i am a socialist. i am an atheist. i am a bard. i am a loyal patriot
of the republic of guyana.
my education, as is every other human's, is ongoing.
now these are my assupmtions, based on your letters. the difference
between us is that i am aware that i am going to make assumptions. i
am in control of my choice to go against my nature and make such assumptions
which could be completely false:
i have enough experience to

that shouldn't upset you because you wouldn't care.

are persons who have been in america so long, your being is american.

you have been away from guyana so long that you base your politics of

i assumed this was a joke.
i did not change my 'z' to an 's' to satisfy anyone; it was the way
i was taught in guyana. in the caribbean, our english is civilised,
rather than simplified.

is this is a comparison? you are sophisticated, guyanese are untutored?
one easily sees that you have no pride in your country, but yet you
act so pro-guyanese, so 'hip' with the happenings.
you are one of them:
using terms that have long since faded from guyanese culture in 1995.
listening to that one sean paul song from 1999, that song which is obsolete
in guyana.
living posh american lives, taking a break to argue "politics"
with someone who commented on your site. you kept referring to my letter
as negative (even "hate-mail", i think) which surprised me.
my points were professional, you took them personally, and you took
them hard.
i do not admire the site because it represents the clan of guyanese
who have been americanised, who only talk of guyana with close family,
highlighting it as "that place".

using your logic, i could call you a demagogue, a malefactor, and even
a chinese astronaut, in the same breath.
we are both guyanese, but yet, you are not.
i gathered that you thought i claimed ownership for the quote i included
in my e-mail. there was a reason i enclosed it in quotation marks: it
is a quote, not mine.i was aware of whom the saying belonged to, but i
preferred not to put his name, as it was unnecessary.
--"i don't believe that it got thru you thick guyanese or carib primate
skull."--you have not disrespected me, but an entire nation. throughout
your letters you sound as an american, fighting off a pompous immigrant
from his land. therefore, i was not hurt; i expected such remarks to be
thrown against my "think guyanese...skull".
again, i care not as much for the websites involved as i do for the culture
that drives them. you mentioned the white canadian man's death. why did
you defend him so fiercely? i wrote a letter to the writer of the article
in question and i was told, in short, that that was how things were. that
was from a person who was breathing guyanese air, living a guyanese life,
writing for a guyanese paper.
you, who probably haven't touched guyanese soil for ten years, are then
trying to insult me into believing that this man had a hard live in guyana?
you need to take a trip to your country, however much you may hate it,
and wake up. there are places in guyana where white men live better than
the president of guyana. this is not an exaggeration.
these men can hit small children with their automobiles and get away with
it. these things do happen in interior regions of guyana where white men
live lavishly, and the police are easily bribed.
but i guess that you would blame the police of guyana. guyana is not a
land of poor people. it is a land of rich foreigners (mostly caucasians)
and poor guyanese.the fact that you took my e-mail personally shows a
lot. i expected a business-like response, but you showed me that your
actions are dependant upon you temperament, and that alone.instead of
directing poorly reasoned insults at you, i will deal with your kind as
a whole, at my small site.oh yes, the reson why my site is small and inactive
is because the majority of guyanese who have internet access are in america
(or canada, no real difference...) and partake fully in american culture
and american lives -- therefore they would be opposed to what i have to
say, and would therefore not visit the site. it's as simple as that. perhaps
if i had a site called guyanaherbs.com, i could talk about clubbing, and
baseball games, and the newest cars, and about that thing with our good
ol' president bush, and about cellphone rates, and about how to make yourself
look and talk least guyanese in a country where being guyanese is not
tolerated as civilised and it would be so much easier for us weak persons
to give it to what the white man has to say and give him the good ol'
yankee accent whenever he feels like chatting.
i'm sure that i have forgot things that i wanted to say, but as you have
seen, it is too easy to attack you with your own words.

at the tactics of guyanaspice.com. i call it 'the eminem effect'. basically,
you insult, degrade, rant and rave as much as your intelligence permits,
thereby creating some amount of controversy, and with this comes attention...popularity,
even if it's just embarrassingly temporary. also, visitors will only
send positive feedback in order to avoid a harsh reaction.
