12 january 2002
this was the first letter i recieved from an american. that is, a person
born here that hasn't any connection to guyana by ancestry or such.
"dear dog" because the old contact address was dog1492@hotmail.com.
this correspondence continued into
february.
Dear Dog; You are a sharp young man. Your views are intuitve, you show
a lot
of aptitude for computers and in humanity itself. I'm sorry you seem
to hate
white folk, cause I am white, however I can't blame you considering
the
history. Fact is we whites have a history of screwing and mistreating
many
others by race. I'm sorry it's true but I know it is. Guyana is a wonderful
country and I have enjoyed myself and the people there, while there.
I flat
out love the place. Have been there fifteen times, but while there I
grew to
know what it felt like to be a minority to an extent, because Guyanese
are so
loving and kind I did feel at home but I never felt so white. Hah. But
don't
you doubt for a minute that if the tables had been reversed that the
same
thing would'nt have happened, only the perpetraors and the victims would
have
shared different roles. For example you show me a black community in
the USa
where I a white man can walk through at nite without having something
to fear
cause I'm white. So look beyond the color if you can and see the problem
for
what it is, the human being without GOD is a hateful and evil thing,
and some
of them do their evil in the name of God. But My hat is off to you my
friend,
you are smart and your views need to be heard.

my reply to the above e-mail. my reply was so delayed because i was
in guyana from the 3rd to 27th of january 2002.
hello,
thank you very much for your e-mail. i am sorry for the delayed reply.
you exemplify my belief that americans, white americans in particular,
are good people as individuals.
i'm glad that you found guyana to be a nice place, and i am happy that
you have had the chance to "walk in another man's shoes" --
the minority's.
i was very stirred by your thought: "that if the tables had been
reversed that the same thing wouldn't have happened, only the perpetrators
and the victims would have shared different roles". this is true,
but that's a gigantic "if". it _does_ make one think though.
i am astonished by your open-mindedness. your ability to give chance
to other views will surely develop _my_ ability to do so.
again, thank you for the e-mail.
sincerely,
guyanese in america are.

from a member of the old site, guyanese in america are.
what is guyanese? email me back and tell me please!!!

my answer to the above.
hello.
a guyanese is a proud patriot of guyana. i'm sure you know how americans
behave since 11th september 2001, as if being american is godly...well
a guyanese is a child of guyana who holds these same attitudes toward
his country. i am sad that i even have to say something about the behaviour
of guyanese in america. they should be moral enough to show a respect
and loyalty towards the country that nourished them.
i apologise for my delayed reply.
guyanese in america are.
