a reply to the above

hello,

about two years ago, i posted my thoughts of guyanausa after receiving an e-mail inviting me to visit guyanausa.org. it can be found in the archives section. here's a link:

http://guyanatruth.tripod.com/archives/2001_may.htm#18_may_2001

what i wrote at that time was definitely an expression of my anger at guyanausa for even suggesting "an american guyana." it was the quintessential representation of guyanatruth in reverse. guyanatruth wanted to bring guyanese together in an enlightened state for national development, guyanausa wanted to make guyana an extension of america, so that we could live happily ever after as americans.

today, i realise that i shouldn't have let my anger write for me. when discrediting something, there must be logical reasons.

i'm glad that you asked for my thoughts on guyanausa because i've been planning for a while to present a kind of analysis of guyanausa, presenting the disadvantages of an american guyana. to do this, i would have to read the information at the guyanausa site, and understand what it is they really want. if i still believe that what they're promoting is completely ridiculous, i must then have reasons for that belief.

for example, the people at guyanausa "support the legal incorporation of guyana into the usa, in the form of us statehood, commonwealth or territory of the usa." to construct an argument either for or against guyanatruth, one must understand the total implications of these three forms of national incorporation.

the point is that i cannot let my anger or my youth direct my opinion on guyanausa. i still feel angry, but this must be actively subdued to form an effective and intelligent argument against guyanausa.

back in 2001 when i wrote my thoughts of guyanausa, the youth in me wanted to ask these people what exactly they were smoking when they came up with this idea of making guyana part of the united states. i felt then that it had to be crack cocaine, because only that drug would induce the type of illusionary state necessary to foster such unearthly ideas as an american guyana. however, i'm a little older now and i'm determined to do this thing professionally and sensibly.

you've encouraged me to expedite my research on guyanausa, and to present my case--revised, well-considered, and without the profanity. hopefully, this will be the update for next week, or the week after that.

but if i were to answer your question with what i know now: i think guyanausa is a satanic group of people who want to deliver guyana into a position far from emancipation and national independence. i am angry and still, even two years after hearing about them, amazed an organisation with such a goal--an american guyana--exists. sometimes i still think this is a joke; a sarcastic statement by a patriot guyanese who wants to encourage guyanese nationhood and brotherhood by ironically presenting the opposite alternatives--becoming part of the united states.
