hey,
I totally agree with u. I am a Guyanese citizien by naturalization. I was born
in Canada... but grew up in Guyana (lived in GT for 16 yrs). I love guyana...and
no matter what.. i'm going back to fight for what is mine. I think the problem
is Brain drain. The only way to fix the problem is to educate them... and go
from there.

I attended saint stanislaus college and am now attendending University of
Waterloo here in Canada, and everywhere i go never forget to mention my great
experience in Guyana. I am definitely going to refer this website to ppl who
need a heads up!
Good work.

my reply to the above

hello,
thanks a lot for your feedback on guyanatruth. my apologies for this delayed reply.
i think that the genuine improvement of the lives of guyanese depends on people like you--smart and enlightened individuals who are willing to confront certain truths even though it may sometimes be risky or embarrassing to do so. we've got to be able to question certain things, and then, in looking for answers, we will further ourselves.
guyanatruth originates from my first question a few years ago: why do guyanese in america act american? at the time i asked this question i expected a single-sentence answer. now i realise that the answer to this question is complex, made more disparate by the different lives of guyanese. there are many determinants that account for if and why a person adopts an american facade.
i feel encouraged that you think guyanatruth provides a "head's up" for people because that's what i think the purpose of guyanatruth is--to provide some truth about things relevant to guyanese, thereby creating a spark of rebellion and self-awareness. guyanatruth is here to nurture that spark in people that makes them say "today i will do something positive for guyana; i will educate myself and make myself and my people stronger." guyanatruth is here to encourage people to rise up against the brutal silence and misinformation in guyana that keeps things like the race vote alive, stagnating our country. guyanatruth exists for many reasons.
thanks again for your thoughts on the site. if there's anything that you would really like to talk about, send in an article. it will be posted on the site and you'll be fully credited.
