the issues
version 1
back to the current version 2
these are the issues that are either mentioned or examined
at guyanatruth. at least every month, i will add to the discussion
of each issue with some form of media, most likely text. i may add
to, or remove from, this list as any realisations occur.
writings on these issues appear in the writings
on issues section.
-
the "decultured"
behaviour of so many guyanese in america which degrades the guyanese
at home, as well as guyana. besides disposing their real culture,
an american facade is picked up.
-
the emigration
of guyanese from guyana, primarily to richer nations, for permanent
residence. this directly causes "brain-drain" and under-population
in our vast country.
-
the adaptation
of american popular culture by young guyanese in guyana.
-
the unnaturally
uneven distribution of wealth among guyanese. this issue covers
people in guyana who don't appear to work, or have no visible source
of income, but are able to mysteriously achieve, maintain and display
considerable wealth.
-
the continuing
exploitation of guyana. our country, our region, is seen by the
huge corporations of the world as an undeveloped market, our home--an
unploughed pasture, a not-yet-destroyed forest. many local businesses
also exploit guyanese. this translates to their profit at our great
expense.
the issue of poverty, by itself, deserves
an entire web site to sufficiently analyse it. this topic couldn't
possibly be given enough attention by me alone, but i'll try my best
to give at least some amount of attention to the plight of penury
in guyana, without overwhelming you or myself.
i would also like to formally recognise police brutality
as a disgusting, inhumane evil in guyana. however, i can trust men
with seemingly good intentions, like c. n. sharma, to make efforts
in conquering this injustice to guyanese. as with poverty, this problem
deserves more attention than i can give it. or rather, it deserves
more attention than i can currently give it.
the problems with our country and with our people, myself
included, are definitely not indomitable ones. if we do not work together
and make some attempt to change things, nothing will change.
therefore, it we do work together, work hard, in complete
co-operation, and as guyanese patriots, things will change.
